In order to keep your place in the queue, we recommend that you don't open a new browser window or tab on the Royal Opera House website.

There is no need to click anything. When you leave the Waiting Room you should click on the Sign In link that will be displayed in the top left hand corner of the page.

1. Recommended Settings

To get the best out of our Online Sales System we recommend the following minimum requirements:

Cookies are required to proceed through the purchase path and JavaScript is also required for some functions in the purchase path. Flash 8 is needed to take advantage of the 'Select Your Own Seat' functionality.

Please note that due to the security settings on our new website, we do not support the AOL browser. We recommend customers using an alternative with the appropriate settings detailed above.

When we developed the 'Book Now' section of our website, we were aware of the increase of instances of identity fraud. To combat this we employed a company, accredited by CESG (the security arm of the Government), to provide recommendations to secure our customers' data. The main recommendation they made was: Make sure that Session IDs expire after a short interval and they are cross-referenced with the user's IP Address. We now check your IP address at regular intervals as your browse the ROH site in order to ensure your IP address remains the same during your visit.

This has meant that any customer attempting to buy tickets using an Internet Service Provider that shuffles IP Addresses between the secure and non-secure areas of our ticketing website, has encountered an error message at some point and may not have been able complete a purchase online.

If you have encountered this error message, we would recommend checking the security settings on your PC or Mac (JavaScript and Cookies need to be enabled). If using Windows Internet Explorer or Netscape, making the following web addresses 'trusted sites' has also proved very effective (http://www.roh.org.uk and https://www.roh.org.uk). We would also recommend contacting your Internet Service Provider for advice and help.

2. The queue position number has not refreshed in over 5 minutes. What should I do?

The waiting room application should refresh your queue position automatically every 30 seconds to update your status in the waiting room queue. If you do not have javascript enabled, the entire page will refresh every 30 seconds. If you notice your browser has not refreshed for some time your web browser software may have become locked or your connection to the internet may have become disconnected. Check to make sure your browser application is still responding and your internet connection is still active by manually refreshing the web page (most browsers include a specific button for this purpose). If your browser is stalled or your internet connection is no longer active you will need to re-enter the waiting room once you are back on line.
